Anatomy Anatomy of the emanating elements in general Anatomy of cystidia Anatomy of cystidia (type 1)

anatomy haustoria {of ectomycorrhiza former} presence

Frequently, it is not possible to decide whether haustoria are from a foreign fungus or from the ectomycorrhizal fungus under consideration. Some haustoria originate from Hartig net cells without any indication that the Hartig net is formed by two different fungi. In this case, the haustoria are regarded as haustoria of the ectomycorrhizal fungus itself. Some haustoria can be traced to Hartig net cell of a deviating type, or the haustoria reveal a different staining behaviour; this is indicative that the haustoria are caused by a foreign fungus.
