Very important and differentiating reactions! A positive reaction can be of two different kinds. Frequently, the blue stain is incorporated within the cell walls causing variously dense blue colours. Secondly, cell walls can turn to reddish, which is called a metachromatic reaction. This reaction is found very infrequently, but it is not always reproducible. The kind of reactions should be noted separately.
