Anatomy Anatomical features of the entire mycorrhiza

anatomy entire mycorrhiza emanating elements presence-type

Whereas rhizomorphs are mostly easily discernible, there are sometimes difficulties to distinguish emanating hyphae and cystidia. As a general rule, cystidia are characterized by a rather definite and limited length. Therefore, cystidia cause – particularly when they stand very dense – a velvety zone of stiff hairs around the mantle. Emanating hyphae are mostly irregularly shaped, variably long and grow far away from the mantle. Often emanating hyphae and cystidia co-occur.
