Morphology
Morphology of the mycorrhizal system
The negative proof is always very difficult. But some fungal genera are known to likely definitely lack rhizomorphs, e.g. the ascomycetous ectomycorrhizae. Some genera, particularly Lactarius, have such brittle rhizomorphs and are so tightly glued to scarcely decayed litter that they can easily be lost during preparation. |
