Remarks

  Mycorrhizal systems irrgularly monopodial-pinnate; mycorrhizal ends in some parts woolly in others smooth, older parts dark brown to black; rhizomorphs not ramified; mantle surface with sticky matrix; in Melzer's reagent cylindrical hollow ingrowths of outer mantle cells tend to darken probably due to a dextrinoid reaction, in sulfo-vanillin these ingrowths become black.
